Pittman brings multidisciplinary experience to her new leadership role.
Alpharetta, GA – February 13, 2024 – The Alpharetta Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the appointment of Sophia Pittman as its new President. Pittman brings a multidisciplinary background spanning economic development, finance, international business, philanthropy, higher education, and community development, and is well poised to lead the Chamber through its next exciting chapter.
Pittman comes to the Chamber from Gwinnett Technical College, where she served as the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement and championed fundraising efforts for one of the largest technical colleges in Georgia. Her efforts included the annual fund, alumni funds, special funds, major gifts, planned gifts, and capital campaigns.
Notably, she has also held leadership roles such as Director of Operations for the United Methodist Church Southeast Region and Director of Operations for the Atlanta City Council. In these positions, Pittman worked on multiple community billion-dollar projects such as the Mercedes Benz Stadium, Atlanta Streetcar, Atlanta BeltLine, Atlanta Aquarium, the Atlanta Airport, and much more. With this diverse background, she is well prepared to tackle the unique needs and opportunities of the Alpharetta business community.
“The Board of Directors is delighted to welcome Sophia as our new Executive Director,” said Donna Murphy, Chairman of the Board of the Alpharetta Chamber of Commerce. “Her proven track record of success in both the public and private, educational, and nonprofit sectors, coupled with her passion for connecting businesses and fostering economic growth, makes her an ideal fit for our Chamber.
